Benda Rock 707: Air Suspension and Electronic Clutch Bring New Tech to the Cruiser Class

What if your cruiser could lower itself at a stoplight and change gears without you touching the clutch lever? That's the idea behind the new Benda Rock 707, a motorcycle that combines classic cruiser styling with technology more commonly associated with premium, electronically equipped machines.

The Chinese manufacturer is pushing beyond the traditional cruiser formula with two standout features: electronically controlled rear air suspension and its Benda Electronic Clutch system. Backed by a 692cc V-twin engine, the Rock 707 aims to offer a different kind of riding experience for motorcyclists who appreciate cruiser styling but want modern convenience.

The model is arriving at European dealerships, with Benda planning to showcase it alongside other motorcycles at EICMA in November 2026.

A 692cc V-Twin With Cruiser Character

At the heart of the Rock 707 is a liquid-cooled, 692cc V-twin engine producing a claimed 73 PS at 9,000 rpm and 68 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.

Those figures put the Rock 707 in an interesting position within the middleweight cruiser category. Rather than relying solely on a large-displacement engine, Benda is combining accessible performance with technology designed to make everyday riding more convenient.

A six-speed gearbox sends power to the rear wheel through a belt drive. The belt helps keep routine maintenance relatively straightforward, while electronic throttle control is intended to deliver precise engine response.

Cruise control is also included, giving the Rock 707 some added comfort for longer stretches of open road.

Air Suspension That Adjusts Ride Height

The most eye-catching feature is the Rock 707's electronically controlled, dual-chamber rear air suspension.

Unlike a conventional rear shock with a fixed spring arrangement, the system can adjust the motorcycle's ride height and respond to changes in load and road conditions.

The seat height can vary between 690mm and 720mm, giving riders a 30mm adjustment range.

The system can also lower the motorcycle as the rider comes to a stop, then raise it again when moving off. That could be particularly useful when maneuvering in parking lots, stopping on uneven ground or simply putting a foot down at traffic lights.

The ability to adjust the bike's height may also help accommodate riders with different inseam lengths. For a cruiser, where confidence at low speeds and while stationary can make a real difference, that's a meaningful practical benefit.

Benda's system is designed to do more than create a visual effect: it aims to make the motorcycle adaptable to different riders and riding conditions.

An Electronic Clutch That Keeps Manual Control

The second major innovation is Benda's electronic clutch system, identified in the latest launch material as BEC MK-III.

The system can manage clutch operation electronically, allowing riders to pull away, shift through the gears and come to a stop without operating the clutch lever. The six-speed gearbox remains, so this is not a conventional fully automatic transmission.

Importantly, manual clutch control remains available. Riders can still operate the clutch themselves when they prefer a traditional experience.

That flexibility could be useful in stop-and-go traffic, during slow-speed maneuvering and on longer journeys where repeated clutch operation can become tiring.

The technology is designed to retain the involvement of a geared motorcycle while reducing some of the work associated with operating it.

How naturally the system responds in real-world riding will ultimately be an important part of judging its success.

Modern Technology Beneath Classic Styling

The Rock 707 combines its electronic features with a muscular cruiser silhouette, including a substantial fuel tank, distinctive LED lighting and a low-slung stance.

Its steel tube frame is paired with an aluminium swingarm and an inverted front fork. Braking equipment includes a 320mm front disc and a 260mm rear disc, supported by ABS and traction control.

Other equipment includes a digital TFT display, USB and USB-C charging, electronic throttle control and cruise control.

The motorcycle also has a 16-litre fuel tank, while its belt final drive offers an alternative to the chain drives found on many motorcycles.

At a reported curb weight of around 235kg in the latest launch specifications, the Rock 707 is still a substantial machine. Its adjustable rear ride height may help make it more approachable when stationary, although it won't eliminate the need to manage the bike's weight at low speeds.

Could the Rock 707 Change Expectations for Cruisers?

The Benda Rock 707 is interesting because it challenges two familiar assumptions about cruisers: that the riding experience should remain mechanically traditional and that convenience features need to come at the expense of rider involvement.

Its electronic clutch retains a manual gearbox, while the adaptive air suspension adds a practical way to adjust the motorcycle's stance. Together, these features could make the bike more accommodating in everyday use without abandoning the character of a geared V-twin cruiser.

Of course, the technology still needs to prove itself over time. Reliability, maintenance costs and the quality of its operation will matter just as much as the specification sheet.

But Benda is clearly trying to stand apart in a crowded motorcycle market. The Rock 707 isn't just another cruiser with a different paint scheme; it is an attempt to rethink how a cruiser can work for its rider.

For riders curious about emerging motorcycle technology, this is one model worth keeping an eye on as it reaches more markets.
