2027 KTM 690 Rally Brings Rally Raid Spirit to the UK for £11,499

KTM is bringing its new 2027 690 Rally to UK dealers from October, with a £11,499 on-the-road price and a clear mission: take the single-cylinder adventure bike further off the beaten path.

The new KTM 690 Rally is not simply another adventure motorcycle with a rally-inspired paint job. Built around the proven 690 Enduro R platform, it has been developed specifically for riders looking for greater range, stability and long-distance capability away from the pavement.

KTM is also positioning it as the spiritual successor to the legendary KTM 640 Adventure, bringing the Austrian manufacturer's rally heritage back to its LC4-powered middleweight range. (KTM Sportmotorcycle)

A Rally Bike for Longer Adventures

At the heart of the 690 Rally is KTM's 692cc LC4 single-cylinder engine, a powerplant already proven in the 690 Enduro R.

For the Rally, however, KTM has wrapped that engine in a much more adventure-focused package.

The motorcycle gets a purpose-built rally tower with an integrated windshield, giving the rider a cockpit designed for longer days in the saddle. The fuel system is equally important, with dual front-mounted tanks contributing to approximately 20 litres of fuel capacity.

That extra range is a major part of the bike's purpose.

The 690 Rally is designed for riders who want to spend extended periods away from fuel stations, roads and familiar territory rather than simply using an adventure motorcycle for occasional gravel-road detours. (KTM Sportmotorcycle)

Built Around the LC4 Platform

The single-cylinder engine gives the 690 Rally an interesting position in today's adventure market.

Many middleweight adventure motorcycles have moved toward twin-cylinder engines, offering smooth highway performance and strong road-going versatility. KTM is taking a different route.

The LC4 remains compact and relatively light while delivering the kind of performance KTM believes suits serious off-road riding.

The 690 Rally therefore sits closer to the lightweight enduro side of the adventure spectrum than a conventional road-biased adventure tourer.

It's a motorcycle designed around the idea that the pavement is only the beginning of the journey.

Rally Hardware for Real Off-Road Riding

The chassis is where the Rally's purpose becomes even clearer.

KTM has equipped the motorcycle with fully adjustable WP XPLOR suspension, while the rally-oriented chassis is designed to cope with everything from technical off-road sections to faster liaison stages.

The motorcycle also features a dedicated Rally mode that allows riders to adjust throttle response and traction control to suit changing terrain.

The result is a machine that attempts to bridge two worlds: the agility of a large enduro motorcycle and the endurance expected from a proper rally machine.

The Return of the 640 Adventure Spirit

For long-time KTM fans, the 690 Rally name carries another significance.

KTM describes the new motorcycle as the spiritual successor to the 640 Adventure, a model remembered for combining a large single-cylinder engine with genuine long-distance adventure capability.

The 690 Rally takes that philosophy and updates it for a modern generation.

The difference is that today's motorcycle benefits from considerably more sophisticated suspension, electronics, rider information and chassis development.

The underlying idea, however, remains familiar: build a motorcycle capable of going a long way into difficult terrain without becoming a full-size adventure tourer.

£11,499 for the UK

KTM has confirmed a UK on-the-road price of £11,499 for the 2027 690 Rally.

The motorcycle is already available to order, with the first examples scheduled to arrive at authorised KTM dealers from October 2026. KTM is also backing the model with its four-year Premium Manufacturer's Warranty. (KTM Sportmotorcycle)

That places the 690 Rally in an interesting part of the UK adventure market. It costs considerably more than a basic dual-sport motorcycle, but the equipment and rally-focused hardware make clear that KTM is targeting riders looking for something considerably more specialized.

Is This the Middleweight Rally Bike Riders Have Been Waiting For?

The 690 Rally occupies a fascinating space.

It isn't as compact and stripped-back as a traditional enduro, but it also doesn't carry the size and weight associated with many modern adventure tourers.

Instead, KTM has taken its powerful single-cylinder platform and built around the demands of riders who want to travel further into remote terrain.

That makes the new 690 Rally particularly interesting for experienced adventure riders who don't see the end of the road as the end of the ride.

At £11,499, KTM is asking serious money for a single-cylinder motorcycle—but it is also offering a machine with a very specific purpose.

And for riders who share that purpose, the new 690 Rally could be one of the most intriguing adventure motorcycles arriving in the UK this year.
